Daily Expenses

A little help, when you need it

Daily Expenses support

Help with recording expenses, keeping backups, and finding your way around Daily Expenses.

Record or correct an expense

Tap + Expense, enter an amount and choose a category. Expand Add note when needed. Today and Yesterday shortcuts change the expense date. Select an entry in Transactions to edit it.

Choose the time period on Spending to review category totals. Transaction searches and filters do not change the Spending report. All amounts are in EUR.

Keep a complete backup

In Settings → Backup and restore, expand Files and recovery options and export a SQLite backup. Choose Save to Files and keep the copy outside the app. CSV and JSON exports are useful for reading your records; they cannot be restored as a full database.

Deleting or reinstalling the app can remove records and recovery copies stored only inside it. Check your saved backup before removing the app.

An iCloud backup is waiting

Check that you are signed into iCloud, iCloud Drive is enabled, and storage and a network connection are available. Open Daily Expenses and unlock it if needed. Check Settings for the current backup status.

Queued means Apple has not confirmed an upload. Automatic snapshots run during active, unlocked use; there is no guaranteed nightly backup while the app is closed. Cloud snapshots are backups, not live ledger synchronization. Turning automation off keeps existing cloud files.

Sync between devices

On app versions that include iCloud sync, enable Settings → iCloud sync → Sync between devices on each device using the same Apple account. Keep the app open and unlocked on both devices to exchange changes. Use Sync now to retry; check iCloud sign-in, storage and network availability if changes are waiting.

Sync is optional and separate from backup snapshots. Review any conflicts in Settings. Pausing sync keeps cloud history. Previous values and deletion events remain in private sync history; see the privacy policy for retention and iCloud controls.

Restore a saved ledger

Choose a SQLite snapshot from Files or the iCloud backup list. Review its details, continue, type RESTORE, and confirm replacement. The selected backup replaces the current ledger rather than merging with it. Back, cancel, dismissal and relock invalidate confirmation.

A local recovery snapshot of the previous ledger is kept. In a new installation, review any existing iCloud backups before creating a new backup. On sync-capable versions, turn sync off before restoring. Re-enabling sync reconciles the restored ledger with retained cloud changes; it does not rewind every device.

App protection and updates

App protection is optional and uses your device’s Face ID or passcode. Use the system passcode fallback when offered. Never share your passcode with support.

Settings → App updates can check for a compatible update. Save unfinished entries before restarting. Recording and reviewing expenses continue to work offline.
